Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Subsidy

What is it?
The CPD Subsidy provides financial support to rural doctors in South Australia to access continuing medical education opportunities and is reimbursed following attendance at courses, events or conferences.

CPD Subsidy for General Practitioners

Who can apply?
Resident rural doctors are eligible for CPD subsidy when attending courses, events or conferences that are accredited through ACRRM or RACGP. Education activities need to be appropriate to the doctor’s area of expertise and relevant to community needs.

How much?
The CPD subsidy is a pre-determined amount depending on the remoteness of location and the number of doctors in the town. The CPD subsidy is available each financial year, and any unused subsidy cannot be accrued.

CPD Subsidy for Specialists


Who can apply?
Resident rural Specialists are eligible for CPD subsidy when undertaking further education related directly to their clinical practice. Specialists who have a contract with the State Department of Health that provides for continuing professional development are ineligible to claim.

How much?
This subsidy is valued at $5,400 (AUD) each financial year, and any unused subsidy cannot be accrued.
