Rural Female GP Pre-School Childcare Grant
What is it?
The rural female doctor pre-school childcare grant is designed to provide a financial incentive to female doctors in rural and remote SA.
This grant aims to:
• Assist rural female doctors to remain in the medical workforce during their children's pre-school years
• Provide financial support to current female doctors
• Make rural practice more attractive to female doctors
• Raise the awareness of the needs of current and future female doctors to employers
Who can apply?
The rural female doctor pre-school childcare grant is available to rural female doctors who are:
• Registered as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board of South Australia
• Recognised as a general practitioner for the purposes of the Medicare Benefits Schedule
• Currently residing and working in a rural community (RRMA 3 - 7) in South Australia
• Have one or more pre-school children
• The current primary care giver as defined by the Australian Department of Community and Family Services
• Willing to participate in the evaluation of the grant
How much?
Payment will be determined by the number of hours worked per week (excluding after hours and on-call) and the number of pre-school aged children, regardless of the current childcare arrangements and childcare provider. The grant will be paid on a six-monthly basis upon receipt of a completed claim form.
