Can I get a locum?
The Rural Doctors Workforce Agency GP locum service aims to provide significant locum cover for solo rural GPs in South Australia. As a result, a tiered funding arrangement for locum cover has been established for all rural GPs in South Australia. GP locums provided by RDWA are non-procedural.
If you would like to know your eligibility for locum cover and funding, please refer to the
Locum Eligibility Table.
Please refer to our guidelines for more information relating to after hours on-call requirements for the locum and the responsibilities of both the practice and the locum.

Private locum arrangements
Subsidy
If Rural Doctors Workforce Agency can’t provide a locum you may be eligible for a financial subsidy that can contribute to the costs of obtaining a private locum.
Brokerage
If you have used up your allocated amount of locum coverage per year and have also accessed all of your available locum subsidy, we offer a unique opportunity to arrange a locum for you at a weekly fee plus travel and accomodation costs (subject to locum availability).
